First Scholarships Awarded in July 1998

Mr. Josh Willett - Student of Terry II and Dr. Frenz Sr.

The first recipient of the Terry Frenz II Scholarship For Trumpet players is Mr. Josh Willett of Alliance, Ohio.  A graduate of Marlington High School who is attending Capital University in Columbus, Ohio where he is majoring in Music Education and trumpet performance.  Josh had been a long time trumpet student of Terry's and has pursued many of the same goals and dreams, exemplifying the intent of the scholarships.

Mr. J.J. Reinhart - Student of Dr. Frenz Sr.

The second recipient is Mr. J. J. Reinhart from Toledo, Ohio.  J.J. is a junior at the University of Cincinnati where he also is a Music Education Major studying to be a band director.  J.J. was inspired at a clinic by Terry II when he first appeared as a clinician at UC in 1994.

Miss Melisa Silsby

The third recipient is Miss Melisa Silsby from Cleveland, Ohio who was a student of Terry II and Dr. Frenz Sr. and was awarded it in 1999.

Miss Betsy Swartz

The fourth recipient is Miss Betsy Swartz from Springfield, Ohio who was a student of Dr. Frenz Sr. and was awarded it in 2000.

Mr. Matt Jackson

The fifth recipient is Mr. Matt Jackson from Alliance, Ohio who was a student of Terry II and Dr. Frenz Sr. and was awarded it in 2001.

Mr. Chris Kannel

The sixth recipient is Mr. Chris Kannel from Montpillar, Ohio who was a student of Dr. Frenz Sr. and was awarded it in 2003.

Mr. J.C. Heisler

The seventh recipient is Mr. J.C. Heisler from Cleveland, Ohio who was a student of Terry II and Dr. Frenz Sr. and was awarded it in 2005.

Mr. Nathan Wiczer

The eighth recipient is Mr. Nathan Wiczer from Chicago, Illinois who was a student of Dr. Frenz Sr. and was awarded it in 2006.

The ninth recipient is Mr. Nathan Wiczer from Chicago, Illinois who was a student of Dr. Frenz Sr. and was awarded it in 2007.

Mr. Matt Anklan

The tenth recipient is Mr. Matt Anklan from Kettering, Ohio who was a student of Dr. Frenz Sr. and was awarded it in 2009.
